  • Sussex-based wedding celebrant Melanie Driver, luxury venue Bury Manor Barn, videographer Freddie Hill of Graded Films and Spriggs Florist are offering up their services for free to give thanks.
  • Opportunity is open to an NHS and key worker couple living in Sussex and neighbouring counties of Hampshire and Surrey.
  • Melanie is also offering to perform free wedding ceremonies for four other NHS and key worker couples who already have a venue in place across the three counties.

24th June 2020 – Following the Government’s announcement yesterday that weddings can resume from 4th July with 30 guests, local businesses have joined forces to give one NHS or key worker couple living in Sussex, Hampshire and Surrey whose wedding was cancelled the chance to finally say ‘I do’ this year.

The event will see wedding celebrant, Melanie Driver, perform a personalised and intimate ceremony at Bury Manor Barn – a country wedding venue based in Pulborough, West Sussex – with a beautiful bouquet donated by Spriggs Florist, whilst videographer Freddie Hill of Graded Films captures the moment.

The opportunity is open to a couple living in one of the three counties, with one or more partners either working in the NHS or are key workers and had their dreams of getting married curtailed because of the Covid-19 lockdown.

What’s more, Melanie is offering her services for free to four additional NHS and key worker couples who have postponed their venue and looking for a bespoke ceremony to celebrate their special day.

Melanie Driver, Wedding Celebrant said: “This is my way of giving a treat to a handful of special individuals who have devoted the past months to treating us.”

Charlie Hockin, Events Manager at Bury Manor Barn said: “We are delighted to be able to offer the barn to a well deserved couple who have been under enormous stress and worry, who have put our lives before their own. We look forward to helping their dream of a 2020 wedding become reality.”

Freddie Hill of Graded Films said: “To give a little something back to the tremendously hard working individuals and couples over this troubling time will be a wonderful thing. We can’t wait to offer a memory in motion for this special occasion”.

Matthew and Samantha Spriggs of Spriggs Florist in Petworth jointly said: “We have watched so many front line workers really go above and beyond over the last few months, and wanted to join in this ‘thank you, by creating a very special bouquet.”

Melanie worked as a registrar before deciding that the role had become too prescriptive and depersonalised. Already a trained and experienced celebrant, she decided the time was right to offer ceremonies to couples seeking a memorable wedding day which was bespoke and tailor made.
